Clewiston woman dead, 3 others seriously injured in Nassau County crash

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — A 67-year-old Clewiston woman is dead and three others are seriously injured after a crash in Nassau County Thursday.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Interstate 95 near Mile Marker 376 around 3:30 Thursday morning.

A 48-year-old Clewiston woman was driving an SUV with three passengers: a 10-year-old, 8-year-old, and 67-year-old. All were from Clewiston.

The SUV was heading south on I95 when it swerved off the road and into a guardrail. When the SUV turned toward the right shoulder, the vehicle flipped and slammed into a semi-truck, troopers said.

The driver and the front seat passenger of the SUV were thrown out of the car in the crash, troopers said. The front passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver and the other two passengers were rushed to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured in the crash.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
