Forecast: Hot & dry weather Friday, but rain looms over the weekend
A split weekend is ahead as a cold front approaches the area on Sunday.
Saturday will feature gorgeous, albeit hot weather for the start of the weekend with sunshine. Humidity will increase with highs near 90.
On Saturday night clouds will gradually increase, with a shower or two possible, as a complex of storms works its way through North Florida.
Sunday will feature extra clouds which will keep temperatures in the mid 80s. By the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will arrive in the area.
While this rain will be a welcomed relief, it won’t be enough to provide an appreciable dent in our drought situation.
Severe storms aren’t likely at this point, but a few storms could become strong, especially north of the Caloosahatchee.
Influence from the aforementioned front will linger across South Florida before dissipating during the start of next week.
As a result, an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm can’t be ruled out Monday or Tuesday, but chances look limited.
The rest of the week should stay dry, partly cloudy, and muggy, with highs ranging from the mid to upper 80s.
