Golden Gate Estates residents deal with ongoing illegal dumping
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.– Illegal dumping on public grounds in Golden Gate Estates is an ongoing problem.
A family on Shady Lane was in for a surprise when they discovered it on their property this week. It was a pile of tires, tree trimmings, and wire.
The family moved the pile to the street for the County to clean up.
Neighbor, Barbara Lightcamp said this came as no surprise.
“As you can see at the end of the road, it says ‘no outlet,” she said, “We’re kind of used to it.”
So far this year, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office has received 7 calls about illegal dumping. Suspected dumpers found guilty could be charged with a third-degree felony in the State of Florida.
All American Alarm said trail cams can help.
“Trail cameras are definitely a great solution for something like that in order to capture people dumping things because it’s not going to stop, it’s going to keep continuing on and on and on,” said Sales Manager, Ameer Ali.
You can now bring tires, used oil, paint, foam, and paper for shredding year-round to the Tim Nance Recycling Center in northeast Collier County. Stop by Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
