Lee County COVID-19 vaccination site moves to Edison Mall next week
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The COVID-19 vaccination site in Lee County will be relocated to an indoor location at the Edison Mall in mid-April.
Next week, the Florida Department of Health – Lee County vaccination site will be moved from its current location to the area where Sears used to be at the Edison Mall.
Wednesday, April 14th will be first dose vaccinations only. Then Thursday, April 15th and Friday, April 16th will be first and second doses, all by appointment only. Appointments will be between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m..
The site is also ADA accessible, although there are no tram services planned from the parking lot to the front door yet. Officials will monitor operations next week and adjust as needed.
The site will be able to accommodate about 4,000 people per day, according to DOH-Lee officials.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has two watchtowers to keep an eye on the lot outside the site. Deputies will also help with traffic flow around the mall area.
If you got your first dose at the RSW site between March 18th and March 30th, calls to schedule your second dose appointment at the new location started Thursday.
The county’s scheduling vendor will pop up on your phone as an unknown number, but they should also send you an email if they can’t reach you by phone.
Vaccinations will likely happen four days a week, like they did at the RSW site. They could expand hours into the evenings and weekends in the future.
The county’s number to schedule a vaccination reservation is 866-200-3468.
Existing appointments at the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) vaccination site will not be affected, according to officials with the Lee County Government.
Vaccinations will continue to be administered at RSW until Wednesday, April 14, when the site will be relocated its new location.
