Loose cow finally corralled in Collier with the help of a dart gun
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla — A loose cow had a date with a dart gun after wandering away from home in Collier County today.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office Agriculture Bureau responded to the loose livestock near a farm off Tamiami Trail East between Collier Boulevard and State Road 92.
It was a total team effort to wrangle the cow.
First crews used horses to find the animal. After an unsuccessful search for the cow’s owners, a sergeant shot a dart into the cow to sedate it.

Crews waited for the sedative to kick in, and tied the cow with ropes.

Then, with the help of a slide and the muscle of an ATV, crews were able to pull the cow into a trailer.

From there, the cow was transported to the Collier County Domestic Animal Services in hopes its owner surfaces.
So far this year, the Agriculture Bureau has captured 104 large animals, including horses and cows.
