Marine units rescue nine people from Sarasota boat fire
SARASOTA, Fla. – Nine passengers were rescued from a boat that caught on fire in Sarasota Bay on Saturday.
Marine Patrol with the Sarasota Police Department and the Town of Longboat Key responded to the boat fire just west of the 10th Street boat ramp.
The boat is a personal 24-foot vessel, according to Sarasota marine units. All nine people that were on board the boat have been brought to shore.
Sarasota police said that the boat may not be removed from the water until Monday because of deteriorating weather conditions.
