Mask mandates will not be renewed in Collier and Naples
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.– Mask mandates are set to expire in Collier and the City of Naples on Tuesday.
Don’t throw away your mask yet, businesses still have the right to ask you to wear a mask.
Owner of Ridgway Bar and Grill, Tony Ridgway said masks are not going anywhere at his restaurant. Ridgway is requiring all staff to continue wearing a mask as part of their uniform.
“We will ask our guests to respectfully wear a mask if they can. We will not get into battles. That’s a battle I really don’t want to fight anymore,” Ridgway said.
Naples City Council decided in March that they would not extend the mandate.
Collier County Commissioners meet Tuesday and the mask mandate is not on their agenda.
“It will expire unless something extraordinary happens tomorrow but I don’t anticipate that,” District 4 Commissioner, Penny Taylor said.
Commissioner Taylor says there is no point in having a mandate you can’t enforce.
“You know the governor made a decision about any kind of penalties/prosecution for it,” Taylor said.
