Southwest Florida Black Expo to host 100 businesses and nonprofits

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Black business owners are still recovering from the pandemic.

The Dunbar Festival Committee will host its inaugural Southwest Florida Black Expo this weekend, giving businesses the chance to show the community what they are about.

One hundred businesses and nonprofits will be on display inside Edison Mall, this weekend. The expo will also have guest speakers, music and events for kids.

“When I heard of the opportunity, I just knew I had to be a part of it,” cosmetologist Carrie Elmontis said.

“Networking and getting your face out there is a really big deal. People need to know who you are, what you’re about, what you offer.”

Organizers hope the crowds continue to grow as more people get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The event kicks off Friday morning. Vendors will be set up and ready around 11 a.m.
