EAST NAPLES, Fla. – A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after a driver allegedly hit her near U.S. 41 and Pineland Avenue in East Naples Sunday, according to investigators. The teenager was attempting to ride a bike across U.S. 41 when the driver hit her, officials said. Florida Highway Patrol said the driver did not stop. (AP)— Investigators have matched DNA evidence from a 1985 kidnapping, sexual assault, and death of a 17-year-old Florida girl to an inmate who was already serving two life sentences in Michigan on sexual assault charges, according to officials. Fort Myers man arrested for arson & tormenting an animal

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A Fort Myers man is behind bars for arson and tormenting an animal, officials said. Christian Cintron lives at 3572 Central Avenue and NBC2 crews were at the same address yesterday for a fire. Rescue crews were on the scene and crime scene tape was up. NORTH PORT, Fla. — A North Port man accused of beating and stabbing a homeless man was arrested and faces two charges: attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, officials said. FORT MYERS, Fla. – Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a 7-Eleven gas station in Fort Myers Monday morning. The robbery suspect allegedly took approximately $150 worth of lottery tickets from a cashier’s hand at the 7-Eleven at 2977 Cleveland Avenue around 8:30 a.m., according to the Fort Myers Police Department. Man faces sex crime charges for alleged incident involving child under 12

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 30-year-old man accused of sexually battering a child under 12 years old was arrested on Wednesday, officials said. Deputies were dispatched to a home in Lehigh Acres after a sex crime was reported, a spokesperson for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said. Former Florida deputy gets 12 years in prison for planting drugs during traffic stops

MARIANNA, Fla. (AP) – A former deputy in Florida received a 12-year prison sentence for planting drugs in drivers’ cars during traffic stops and then arresting them.
