On Sunday, April 11, 2.05″ of rain fell in the rain gauge at Page Field Airport in Fort Myers, setting a new rain record.
Before yesterday, the old record for April 11 was 1.1″ in 1911, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday’s rainy and stormy weather was also the first time Fort Myers had more than 1″ of rain in 24 hours dating all the way back to February 14 when 2.15″ fell on Valentine’s Day.
