Federal judge rules DACA illegal, blocks new applications

CNN — A federal judge in Texas ruled that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) the Obama-era program shielding certain undocumented immigrants from deportation is illegal on Friday. He also blocked new applicants. The ruling made by Judge Andrew Hanen stops future applicants. This does not immediately cancel current permits for hundreds of thousands of people, however it does leave them in a legal in between, as reported by CNN. DeSantis signs ‘anti-riot’ bill into law

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Governor DeSantis signed a Florida bill aimed at cracking down on violent protests and “combating public disorder” into law on Monday. The governor signed HB 1 into law during a press conference with Florida lawmakers and law enforcement at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. NCAA warns it will pull Florida championships if transgender sports bill is approved

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The NCAA threatened to pull the plug on Florida championship games if lawmakers approve bills to ban transgender girls from playing girls’ sports. Florida’s proposed voting changes could impact older residents

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Proposed changes to Florida’s voting laws could negatively and disproportionately impact older Floridians. Two bills in the Florida Legislature could affect how Florida’s seniors vote if they are signed into law. Those bills are House Bill 7041 and Senate Bill 90.
