Of all the ways to curb the spread of COVID-19 in schools, wearing masks has arguably become the most controversial.
We want to make sure this is clear: kids are significantly less likely than adults to get severely sick with COVID-19. They’re even less likely to die from the virus. But, their risk is not zero. As of the writing of this article, Golisano Children’s Hospital is treating 14 children for severe cases of COVID-19. Before this point in the pandemic, doctors tell us they were only treating 1 to 2 children with COVID at a given time.
