Waste Pro enlists 3 contractors to help with Cape Coral trash pickups
CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Waste Pro has confirmed it has enlisted the help of three contractors to help with trash pickups in Cape Coral.
The company had a special meeting with the city council Wednesday, after ongoing issues with trash and bulk items not getting picked up.
The contractors are mainly to help with bulk pickups right now, which Waste Pro said it’s behind on in the city.
An NBC2 crew saw a trash truck from Gaston’s on Thursday picking up bulk items in a southeast neighborhood. Waste Pro confirmed that’s one of the three contractors helping them.
Neighbors there said a lot of those piles had been sitting there for weeks before Gaston’s crew picked them up.
“I’m glad somebody’s getting it, but at the same time, I thought Waste Pro should be the one that takes care of it,” said Leevardis Foster. “A lot of times, I would put stuff out on my side of the road and call and nothing happens.”
Mayor Gunter requested an action plan from Waste Pro by Monday, as well as a monthly update moving forward.
