Watch out for shorebird nests when visiting Sanibel beaches
SANIBEL, Fla.– Sanibel beaches are home to nesting Snowy Plovers.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation marks the shorebird’s nests by roping them off. Keep an eye out for the markers during your beach visit, disturbing the nests could harm chicks.
SCCF recommends that you keep your pet leashed during your beach trip, as off-leash dogs can sniff out the shorebird’s nests.
If you observe any violations of the Snowy Plovers’s nests, you can call 1-888-404-FWCC.
